Amisk is a small village in east-central Alberta, Canada. Its name comes from the Cree language, where amisk means "beaver".
The area where Amisk is located was first surveyed by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1906. Around the same time, settlers from the United States, Scandinavia, and Great Britain began to arrive. The village grew, with the first general store opening in 1907. A school was built in 1916, showing the community was growing.
