Amphinecta is a genus (a group of closely related living things) of spiders. These spiders are found in the South Pacific region, especially in New Zealand. They are known as intertidal spiders, which means they live in the area between high and low tide marks, often near the ocean. The first time these spiders were officially described was in 1898 by a scientist named Eugène Simon.
What are Amphinecta Spiders?
Amphinecta spiders belong to a family called Desidae. They are a special type of spider that can live in places where the land meets the sea. This means they are tough and can handle being covered by water when the tide comes in, and then exposed to air when the tide goes out.
