Ana Carolina Sousa (born September 9, 1974) is a very talented Brazilian singer, songwriter, and musician. She is known for her powerful voice and for blending different music styles like pop, rock, and traditional Brazilian sounds.

Ana Carolina's Musical Journey
Ana Carolina has a deep, strong singing voice, which is called a contralto voice. Music has always been a big part of her life. Her grandmother used to sing on the radio, and her great-aunt and uncle played many instruments like percussion, piano, cello, and violin.
Growing up, Ana Carolina listened to many famous Brazilian musicians such as Chico Buarque, João Bosco, and Maria Bethânia. She also enjoyed international artists like Nina Simone, Björk, and Alanis Morissette. She started her career by singing in local bars.
Moving to Rio and First Album
To become a professional musician, Ana Carolina moved from her home state of Minas Gerais to Rio de Janeiro. Soon after arriving in Rio, she signed a contract with the BMG recording company.
In 1999, she released her first CD, simply titled Ana Carolina. This album was a big success and even earned her a nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards.

Her second album, Ana Rita Joana Iracema e Carolina, came out in 2001 and was also very popular. The album's name was a special tribute to songs by Chico Buarque, one of her favorite singers. This album featured hit songs like "Quem de nós dois" and "Ela é bamba".
In 2003, she released her third album, Estampado, which showed off her unique musical style. Her fourth CD, Ana Carolina: Perfil, released in 2004, was a collection of her most popular songs from her first three albums. It was the best-selling album in Brazil in 2005!

Also in 2004, Ana Carolina performed a special show with the artist Seu Jorge. They released a live CD and DVD of this show called Ana & Jorge. One of the songs from this album, "É Isso Aí", which is a Portuguese version of "The Blower's Daughter" by Damien Rice, became a number one hit.
In 2006, she released her sixth album, Dois Quartos. This album was unique because it came with two CDs, one called 'Quarto' and the other 'Quartinho'.
In December 2017, another artist named Alice Caymmi released a song and video called "Inocente", which Ana Carolina helped write.
