Anchalumoodu is a town and neighborhood in the city of Kollam, India. It's a historic place known for being close to where a notable railway event happened in 1988. Anchalumoodu is about 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Kollam city. It is also 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Kundara town. The College of Engineering, Perumon is very near this area.
Until 2015, Anchalumoodu was part of a local council called Thrikkadavoor panchayath. In May 2015, the Government of Kerala decided to make Kollam City Corporation bigger. They did this by adding Thrikkadavoor panchayath. So now, Anchalumoodu is officially part of Kollam city.
A special thing about Anchalumoodu is that about 75% of it is surrounded by Ashtamudi Lake. This lake is famous for its beautiful views. It brings many tourists to Kollam every year.

Train Travel
The closest train station to Anchalumoodu is Perinad railway station. It's only about 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) away from the town. All local passenger trains stop here. Kollam Junction Railway Station is a much bigger and busier station. It is about 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) from Anchalumoodu. You can also find Kundara about 9 kilometers away.
Road Travel
Anchalumoodu has good road connections. The town is 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Kollam city center, known as Chinnakada. It's also 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Kundara town. You can easily find regular city buses and other transport to Kollam city from Anchalumoodu.
National Highway 183 (India) goes through Anchalumoodu. This means you can catch buses to important places in Kerala. These include cities like Trivandrum and Ernakulam.

This temple is one of the Subramania temples in the Kollam District. Its most important event is the Thaippooya Festival. This festival lasts for 10 days. Many people from all over the district come to visit during this time. You can see several elephants at the temple during the festival. At night, a special procession called Khoshayatra takes place. To get to the temple, you can get off at the Anchalumoodu town bus stop. From there, auto rickshaws can take you to the temple. The temple is about 1.5 kilometers (less than a mile) from Anchalumoodu junction.
