- About 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) west of the Jacques-Cartier River.
- About 3.0 kilometers (1.9 miles) from the western edge of Jacques-Cartier National Park.
- About 7.3 kilometers (4.5 miles) south-east of Petit lac Jacques-Cartier.

Hiking the Mountain Path
You can hike to the top of Mont Andante using the Scotora trail. This trail is part of Jacques-Cartier National Park. It is a well-made path.
To get there, you need to drive about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) into the park. There is a parking lot at the end of the road. From the parking lot, hikers cross a bridge. Then, they follow the signs for the Le Scotora trail. This path is rocky and goes through a forest. It follows a stream where beavers have built dams.
A Bit of History
Long ago, this part of the mountain was an important path. Indigenous people and Jesuit missionaries used it. They traveled from Quebec City to Métabetchouane. This was a mission near lac Saint-Jean. There was a fur trading post there from 1676 to 1703.
Why the Name "Andante"?
In 1989, three mountains in Jacques-Cartier National Park were named. They were called Adagio, Allegro, and Andante. These names come from Italian music terms. They describe how fast or slow music should be played.
- Adagio means slow.
- Allegro means lively.
- Andante means at a moderate pace.
These names were chosen because they connect to a famous artist. They honor Félix Leclerc (1914-1988). He was a well-known singer and writer from Quebec.
Félix Leclerc wrote books with similar titles. His story collection Adagio came out in 1943. His fables and poems, titled Allegro and Andante, were published in 1944. These writings showed his love for nature. They also showed his respect for the simple life of farmers.
Félix Leclerc was born in La Tuque, Quebec. He came from a family who loved music. He first sang on the radio in 1939. He also acted in plays. Later, he spent three years in France. In 1951, he won a big award for his song "Moi, mes souliers ...". When he returned to Quebec, he received many honors. These included the Order of Canada in 1968.
The name "Mont Andante" was officially recognized on February 7, 1989. This was done by the Commission de toponymie du Québec, which names places in Quebec.
