Andijk is a village in the Netherlands. It is located in the province of North Holland. The village is right next to Lake IJssel.
The name Andijk means "at the dike." A dike is a wall built to hold back water. In 1667, a small church was built here. Andijk became its own independent town on January 1, 1812. This happened during the time when Napoleon was in power.
Andijk has very rich, fertile soil. This soil is great for farming. Farmers grow many vegetables and other crops here. The village also helps supply clean drinking water to the area.

What is the Pilot Polder?
The Pilot Polder Andijk is a special area of land. It covers about 40 hectares. It was built in 1926 and 1927. This polder was a test area. It helped engineers learn how to build the larger Wieringermeer polder.
A polder is land that has been taken back from the sea. The Pilot Polder was reclaimed from the Zuiderzee. Today, this polder is used for fun activities. You can find holiday homes, a camp-site, and a beach there. The town's special song even mentions this polder!
