André Lotterer was born in Duisburg, Germany, on November 19, 1981. His father is German-Peruvian, and his mother is Belgian. He grew up in Nivelles, Belgium, with his mother.

André started his racing journey very young. He began karting when he was just seven years old. This early start helped him become the skilled driver he is today.

Endurance Racing Success

After being a test driver for the Jaguar Formula One team, André moved to Japan. There, he became a champion in Japanese motorsport. He won the Super GT Championship in 2006 and 2009. He also won the Formula Nippon (now called Super Formula) Championship in 2011.
