Major Wins and Best Times
In 1993, Andrés won the famous New York Marathon. This was a huge achievement for him. The next year, in 1994, he ran his fastest marathon ever at the Boston Marathon. He finished in an incredible 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 19 seconds. He also won the Lisbon Half Marathon in 1994.
Andrés showed he was still a fantastic runner even as he got older. In 2003, he set a world record for runners over 40 years old. He ran the Berlin Marathon in 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 46 seconds. This record lasted for almost 12 years!
Competing on the World Stage
Andrés also represented Mexico at major international events. He finished ninth at the World Championships in 1995. He also competed in the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 and Athens in 2004.
