Andre Matthew Moore, born on July 2, 1964, is a former professional basketball player. He is American-Australian. Standing tall at 6 feet 9 inches (205 cm), he played as a power forward. Andre played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets. He also played for teams in Australia.

Andre Moore's Early Life and High School Basketball

Andre Moore grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He played basketball for Carver High School. In 1982, he played in a special game called the Tribune-McDonald's Prep Cage Classic. His team, the City All-Stars, played against the Suburban All-Stars. Andre was the top scorer for his team with 17 points.

Later that year, he was chosen for the Illinois All-Star team. They played against Indiana's All-Stars in a game in Gary, Indiana. Andre helped his team win that game too.

College Basketball Journey

Andre first went to the University of Illinois-Chicago in 1982. He could not play basketball there at first. Then, he moved to Loyola University Chicago. He had to wait another year before he could play for the Loyola University Ramblers.

Playing for the Loyola Ramblers

Andre played for the Ramblers for three seasons. He played 85 games during this time. On average, he scored 16.5 points per game. He also grabbed 10.9 rebounds and blocked 2.1 shots per game.

In 1985, Loyola reached the Sweet 16 in the 1985 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. This is a big tournament for college teams. They lost to Patrick Ewing's Georgetown University team. Andre scored 19 points in that game. In his final year at Loyola (1986–87), Andre was named the best player in his conference. This award was called the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year.

Andre Moore's Professional Career

Andre Moore started his professional basketball career in 1987. He was chosen by the Denver Nuggets in the NBA draft. This is when NBA teams pick new players.

Playing in the NBA

Andre played 10 games in the NBA during the 1987–88 season. He played for both the Denver Nuggets and the Milwaukee Bucks. In these games, he averaged 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds.

After his time in the NBA, Andre played basketball in other countries. He played in Spain and France. He also played in other leagues in the United States. These included the United States Basketball League and the Continental Basketball Association.

Andre Moore has five children with Nadia Taher: Mona, Jalen, Camilia, Tariq, and Zane. His son, Archie Smith, is an Australian Rules footballer. Archie was signed by the Brisbane Lions in 2013.
