He played as a power forward. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets. This was during the 1987–88 season. Andre Moore's Early Basketball Days
High School Hoops in Chicago
Andre Moore played basketball for Carver High School in Chicago. In 1982, he played in a special game called the Tribune-McDonald's Prep Cage Classic. His team, the City All-Stars, played against the Suburban All-Stars. Even though his team lost, Andre was the top scorer for his team with 17 points.
Later that year, he was chosen for the Illinois All-Star team. This team won against Indiana's All-Stars in a game held in Gary, Indiana.
College Career and Big Wins
Andre first went to the University of Illinois-Chicago in 1982. However, he could not play basketball there. He then moved to Loyola University Chicago. He had to wait a year before he could play for the Loyola University Ramblers team.
Over the next three seasons, Andre played 85 games for Loyola. He was a great player, averaging 16.5 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. He also blocked about 2 shots per game.
In 1985, Loyola reached the "Sweet 16" in the big NCAA Basketball Tournament. They played against Patrick Ewing's Georgetown University team. Loyola lost that game, but Andre scored 19 points. In his final year at Loyola (1986–87), Andre was named the best player in his conference. This was a big honor!
Playing Professional Basketball
NBA and Other Leagues
After college, the Denver Nuggets picked Andre in the 1987 NBA draft. He played 10 games in the NBA for the Nuggets and the Milwaukee Bucks. He then played in other leagues around the world. He played in Spain and France. He also played in American leagues like the United States Basketball League. He even played for the Tulsa Fast Breakers in the Continental Basketball Association.
Becoming an Australian Basketball Star
Andre then moved to Australia to play in the National Basketball League (NBL). He joined the Brisbane Bullets team. He helped them reach the NBL Grand Final series in 1990. His teammates included other American players like Derek Rucker.
Andre played so well in the NBL that he was chosen for the 1990 All-NBL Team. He also played in several NBL All-Star Games. The 1990 season was one of his best. He scored almost 27 points per game and grabbed over 12 rebounds. He was also very accurate with his shots, making 61.1% of them.
After playing for the Bullets, Andre joined the Hobart Devils in 1995. He also played for other Australian teams like the Kuiyam Pride and Cairns Marlins. From 1999 to 2001, he returned to the NBL to play for the Cairns Taipans.

After his playing career, Andre Moore decided to live in Australia. He still enjoys playing basketball for fun. He has even played in big sports events like the World Masters Games. Andre also works in the community. He has a program called "Big Feat" that teaches kids about healthy living.

Andre Moore has a son named Archie Smith. Archie is also a professional athlete in Australia. He plays Australian Rules Football and joined the Brisbane Lions team in 2013.
