Andre Pierre's Life and Career
Early Life and Education
Andre Pierre was born in Arcahaie, Haiti, on March 23, 1969. When he was a teenager, he moved to the United States. He went to high school in Long Island.
He earned a college degree in engineering from the New York Institute of Technology. Later, he studied law at the University of Miami.
Becoming a Lawyer and Mayor
After finishing his studies, Mr. Pierre moved to North Miami, Florida. There, he started his own law practice. He also became very active in his community and in local politics.
He lives in North Miami with his wife, who is a high school teacher, and their two sons. In 2009, Andre Pierre was elected as the mayor of North Miami. He served two terms as mayor. He stepped down in 2013 because of term limits.
Other Important Roles
Andre Pierre has also taught law at Barry University. He was an adjunct professor for immigration and naturalization law.
In 2010, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton chose him for an important role. He joined the United States delegation. This group attended a meeting in Martinique, France. The meeting was about helping cities and regions in Haiti.
He also helped lead a committee for the United States Conference of Mayors. This committee focused on immigration issues. Today, Andre Pierre owns his own law firm. It is called Andre Pierre Law Firm. He also works as an advisor for Cayemite Enterprises.
