Andre Pierre's Early Life and Education
Andre Pierre was born in Arcahaie, Haiti. This was on March 23, 1969. As a teenager, he moved to the United States. He went to high school in Long Island.
He earned a college degree in engineering. This degree was from the New York Institute of Technology. Later, he studied law at the University of Miami.
Andre Pierre's Career in Law and Politics
After finishing law school, Andre Pierre moved to North Miami. He started his own law practice there. He also became active in community groups and local politics.
In 2009, he was elected as the mayor of North Miami. He served two terms as mayor. He left office in 2013 due to term limits. Term limits mean a person can only serve a certain number of times.
Mr. Pierre also taught law at Barry University. He was an adjunct professor. He taught about immigration and naturalization law.
In 2010, Hillary Clinton appointed him to a special group. She was the U.S. Secretary of State at the time. He joined the United States delegation. This group attended a conference in Martinique, France. The conference was about helping Haiti.
