Andreas Görlitz's Football Journey
Andreas Görlitz started his professional football career in Germany. He was born in Weilheim, Bavaria. He first played as a midfielder for TSV 1860 Munich in the Bundesliga. The Bundesliga is Germany's top football league. His first match was in February 2002.
Playing as a Defender
In the 2003-04 season, Andreas changed his position to a defender. He played in 32 matches for TSV 1860 Munich. He even scored his first professional goal in March 2004. Sadly, his team was relegated that season. This means they moved down to a lower league.
Time at Bayern Munich
Andreas then joined FC Bayern Munich, a very famous club, in 2004. He started some games for them. But, he got a serious injury during a UEFA Champions League match in November. The Champions League is a big European club competition. This injury kept him from playing for almost two years.
Loan to Karlsruher SC
In 2007, Andreas went on loan to Karlsruher SC. This team had just been promoted to the Bundesliga. He played in almost all their league matches. His team finished 11th, which was a good result.
He stayed on loan for another season. But he played less and his team was relegated again. After that, Andreas returned to Bayern Munich. He often played for their reserve team, FC Bayern Munich II, during his last year there.
Moving to the United States
On March 4, 2014, Andreas signed a contract with the San Jose Earthquakes. This team plays in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. An injury limited him to only three league matches that season. After the 2014 season, San Jose released him from his contract.
Playing for Germany
Soon after joining Bayern Munich, Andreas played for the German national team. He made his debut in a friendly game against Brazil in September 2004. A friendly game is an exhibition match, not a competition.
The next month, he helped set up a goal for his teammate, Thomas Brdarić. This was in another friendly game against Iran. These two games were his only appearances for the German national team.
Andreas Görlitz's Music Career
While he was recovering from a football injury, Andreas Görlitz learned to play the guitar. After he stopped playing football professionally, he started a band called Room77.
