Andrew is a small village located in central Alberta, Canada. It is found northeast of the city of Edmonton. Andrew is famous for being home to the world's largest duck roadside attraction. This giant duck is part of a collection of large statues known as the Giants of the Prairies.
The post office in Andrew was first opened on March 2, 1902. The village was named after an early settler in the area, Andrew Whitford.
Who is Ed Stelmach?
One notable person from Andrew is Ed Stelmach. He became the Premier of Alberta on December 14, 2006. The Premier is like the head of the government for a province in Canada.
Ed Stelmach was chosen as the leader of the provincial Progressive Conservative Party. This happened after a special election within the party to pick a new leader. He won the race even though he wasn't one of the top favorites at first.
