Andrew Harrison was seen as one of the top five basketball players in his age group in 2013. Other top players included Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker. On March 9, 2013, Andrew helped his high school team, the Fort Bend Travis Tigers, win the Class 5A state championship in Texas. They beat South Grand Prairie 46–38.

The Tigers finished that season ranked 16th in the ESPN 25 Power Rankings. The year before, Fort Bend Travis had lost in the state championship game. Andrew also played in two special games for top high school players: the 2013 Jordan Brand Classic and the 2013 McDonald's All-American Boys Game.

College Journey at Kentucky

Andrew played college basketball for two years at the University of Kentucky. During his time there, he averaged about 10 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He played in 79 games for the team.

Andrew and his brother, Aaron, helped Kentucky reach the Final Fours in both 2014 and 2015. The team made it to the championship game in 2014 but lost to Connecticut. In 2015, they lost in the semi-finals to Wisconsin. After his second year, on April 9, 2015, Andrew decided to enter the 2015 NBA draft. This meant he would not play his last two years of college basketball. Several of his Kentucky teammates also entered the draft that year.

Starting His Professional Career

Playing in the NBA

On June 25, 2015, the Phoenix Suns picked Andrew Harrison as the 44th player in the 2015 NBA draft. His rights were then traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. Andrew joined the Grizzlies for the 2015 NBA Summer League. He later played for the Iowa Energy, which was the Grizzlies' minor league team. He scored 11 points in his first professional game on November 14, 2015. In one game, he scored a season-high 36 points.

After playing well for the Iowa Energy, Andrew signed a multi-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies on July 12, 2016. On November 30, 2016, he scored 21 points in a game against the Toronto Raptors. He played in the NBA playoffs for the first time on April 15, 2017.

Andrew continued to improve, scoring a career-high 23 points on February 7, 2018, against the Utah Jazz. A week later, he set a new career high with 28 points. He missed some games in March 2018 due to a wrist injury. The Grizzlies later released him on November 1, 2018.

Andrew then signed a special "two-way contract" with the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 9, 2018. This type of contract allows players to play for both an NBA team and its minor league team. He was with the Cavaliers for a short time before being released on December 2, 2018. On December 5, 2018, he signed another two-way contract, this time with the New Orleans Pelicans. He was released by the Pelicans on January 8, 2019.

After his time in the NBA, Andrew Harrison played for teams around the world and in the NBA's minor league, the G League. On February 27, 2019, he signed with Khimki, a basketball club in Russia.

Later that year, on September 5, 2019, Andrew signed with the Golden State Warriors. He then played for their G League team, the Santa Cruz Warriors. He averaged 15.5 points and 5.1 assists per game there.
