Andrew Stewart, who lived a long time ago and died in 1513, was an important Scottish nobleman. A nobleman was a person of high rank in society, often owning land and having special titles.
He was the son of Alexander Stewart. Andrew inherited the lands of Avondale from his father. His father, Alexander, got these lands from his uncle, also named Lord Avondale. The lands had been taken away from the Earl of Douglas and Avondale in 1455.
The special title of Lord Avondale was given to Andrew Stewart around the year 1499. He died in 1513 during a big battle called the Battle of Flodden. After his death, his son took over his title and lands.
