Andrew James Stockdale, born on July 20, 1976, is an Australian singer, musician, and songwriter. He is most famous as the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band Wolfmother. He is the only member who has been with the band since it started.

Early Life of Andrew Stockdale
Andrew James Stockdale was born in Brisbane, Australia, on July 20, 1976. He grew up in a place called Ashgrove. He went to Ashgrove State School, The Gap State High School, and Kelvin Grove State College. For a short time, he lived with his family in Wimbledon Village in London. He went to Wimbledon Middle School there. Andrew has dual citizenship for both Australia and Britain. This is because his father is from England.

Wolfmother: The Band He Leads
Stockdale is best known as the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band Wolfmother. He also writes songs for the band. He started Wolfmother in 2004. He is the only member who has been in the band since it began.
In 2007, Andrew won "Songwriter of the Year" at the APRA Awards. He shared this award with his bandmates. On October 24, 2020, Stockdale performed the song "Joker & the Thief" at the AFL Grand Final. This is a big sports event in Australia.
Other Music Projects
Besides his work with Wolfmother, Andrew Stockdale has also worked on other music projects. In 2010, he was featured on a song called "By the Sword" by the famous guitarist Slash.
Andrew also released his own solo album in 2013. It was called Keep Moving. He released a second solo album, Slipstream, in 2018.
Andrew Stockdale's Musical Style
Stockdale's music style is often influenced by hard rock and heavy metal guitarists. These are musicians from the late 1960s and early 1970s. People have compared his singing voice to a mix of Robert Plant and Ozzy Osbourne. His guitar playing and how he acts on stage are often linked to Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi.
Andrew Stockdale's Equipment
Andrew Stockdale mainly plays Gibson guitars. His favorite is a 1974 SG standard. It has a special part called a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. He also uses a 1961 Reissue Gibson SG. Sometimes, he uses other Gibson guitars like a Gibson Dot Studio ES-335, a white Gibson Flying V, and an alpine white Gibson EDS-1275.
For recording the Wolfmother album, he used a borrowed Gibson ES-355 guitar. He played it through a Marshall amplifier from the 1960s. When he plays live shows, he uses a Vox AC30 and a Marshall JMP. In the past, he has also used Orange amplifiers. Stockdale also uses a Fender Stratocaster, but he prefers Gibson guitars. Recently, he has started using a Hohner Blues Master Harmonica microphone for some of his singing.
Stockdale uses several effects pedals for his guitar sound. These include a Boss TU-2, Radial Tone Bone, Fulltone Clyde wah, and a Fulltone Supa-Trem. He also uses an Electro-Harmonix Microsynth, an Electro-Harmonix Small Stone phaser, and an AC booster. A Digitech Whammy I is also part of his setup. All these pedals are connected through a special system.
