Andy's Frozen Custard is the biggest chain in the United States that sells only frozen custard! They have more than 140 stores in 15 different states. Frozen custard is a super creamy and delicious dessert. It's a lot like ice cream, but even richer and smoother.
The main office for Andy's is in Springfield, Missouri. The company is run by Andy Kuntz, who the company is named after! People in the Springfield area even voted Andy's as the best thing about their region in 2009.
The Sweet Story of Andy's
Andy's Frozen Custard started way back in 1986. John and Carol Kuntz, Andy's parents, opened the very first store. It was in Osage Beach, Missouri. They got the idea after trying frozen custard for the first time in Wisconsin and loving it!
John and Carol learned a lot from Leon and Doris Schneider. The Schneiders owned Leon's Frozen Custard in Milwaukee since 1942. They shared their knowledge to help the Kuntzes open their own shop. The new shop was named after their son, Andy.
Soon after, the business grew and opened a store in Springfield, Missouri. Andy and his wife, Dana, learned all about the frozen custard business there. In 2008, John Kuntz passed away. Today, Andy, Dana, and Carol continue to run the family business.
