About Andy Bor

Andy Bor was born on April 14, 1963. He lives in Tugun, Queensland, which is a suburb on the Gold Coast. He works as a skiing coach.

Andy Bor's Skiing Career

Andy Bor is known for being a guide for visually impaired skiers. In this special role, he skis in front of the visually impaired athlete. He uses speakers and a microphone to give directions. This helps the skier know where to go down the course.

Coaching and Guiding

At the 2006 Winter Paralympics in Torino, Andy Bor was an assistant coach for Australia. In 2009, he changed his role. He became the guide for Melissa Perrine. This happened as Melissa became a more advanced skier. Their first World Cup event together was in January 2010. They finished fourth in that competition.

Andy Bor first represented Australia in international skiing in 2006. He first skied with Melissa Perrine in a competition in 2009. This was at the IPC North America Cup in Colorado. They finished second in the super-G event there.

Paralympic Games

Andy Bor was officially chosen for the Australian team for the 2010 Winter Paralympics. This announcement was made in November 2009. He and the rest of Australia's Para-alpine team arrived in the Paralympic village on March 9, 2010.

As Melissa Perrine's guide, he competed in several events. These included the downhill, super-G, super combined, giant slalom, and slalom. In the visually impaired super-G, they finished seventh.

At the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Andy Bor was again Melissa Perrine's guide. They finished fourth in the women's downhill for visually impaired skiers. They were disqualified from the super combined event. This was because of a technical rule about a visor. The visor was taped to Melissa's helmet to keep rain out of her goggles. This was against the rules.
