Andy Milne is a talented Canadian jazz pianist. He was born on January 30, 1969, in Hamilton, Ontario. Andy Milne is known for playing music by himself. He also leads his own band called Dapp Theory.

About Andy Milne
Andy Milne grew up in Kincardine and Toronto. He is one of ten brothers and sisters. He loved music from a young age.
His Musical Journey
Andy Milne studied music at York University. There, he had a very special teacher: the legendary jazz pianist Oscar Peterson. Learning from Oscar Peterson helped Andy become a great musician.
In 1990, Andy graduated from university. He received a special grant from the Canada Council. This grant allowed him to study at the Banff Centre for the Fine Arts. While at Banff, he met saxophonist Steve Coleman. Andy later joined Steve Coleman's band, Five Elements.
In 1998, Andy Milne decided to start his own group. He formed the band Cosmic Dapp Theory. This band later became known simply as Dapp Theory.
Working with Other Artists
Andy Milne has played and recorded music with many famous musicians. Some of these artists include Ravi Coltrane, Grégoire Maret, Sean Rickman, and Ralph Alessi. Working with different artists helps musicians explore new sounds.
Awards and Recognition
Andy Milne's hard work and talent have earned him awards. In 2004, Down Beat magazine voted him a "Rising Star Keyboardist." This is a big honor in the jazz world.
In 2006, he received two grants from Chamber Music America. These grants helped him create new music and work with French-American jazz artists.
His album The Seasons of Being was released in 2018. This album won a major award. It received the Juno Award for Jazz Album of the Year – Group at the Juno Awards of 2019. The Juno Awards are like the Grammy Awards for Canadian music.
