Andrew Douglas Strachan (born August 20, 1974) is an Australian rock musician. He is famous for being the drummer of the popular alternative rock band, The Living End. He joined the band in 2002.
Before joining The Living End, Andy played in other bands like Pollyanna. With The Living End, he has helped create many successful albums. These include Modern Artillery (2003), State of Emergency (2006), White Noise (2008), and The Ending Is Just the Beginning Repeating (2011). Many of these albums reached the top of the Australian music charts.

Andy Strachan's Early Life and Music Journey
Andrew Douglas Strachan was born in Adelaide, Australia, on August 20, 1974. He started playing the drums when he was 12 years old. He took lessons at a music shop called Frets and Stix.
When he was 15, Andy joined his first band in Adelaide, called The Runaways. They mostly played cover songs from the 1950s and 1960s. This was similar to how the future members of The Living End started their own band.
Joining Different Bands
In 1993, Andy formed a band called Poxsii Barccs. The group later moved to Melbourne in 1994. In 1996, he started another rock band called Alcotomic. They released an EP and two singles before the band ended in 2001.
Andy also played with a band called P76. By 2000, he had joined a Sydney-based alternative rock band called Pollyanna.
Becoming The Living End's Drummer
In early 2002, Andy Strachan was introduced to the band The Living End. Their previous drummer had left the group. Andy started playing drums with them, even though they were still looking for a new drummer.
He was officially announced as a member of The Living End on March 20, 2002. His first release with the band was an extended play (EP) called One Said to the Other in January 2003.
First Albums and Success
Andy's first full album with The Living End was Modern Artillery, released in October 2003. This album reached number three on the Australian music charts.
Their next album, State of Emergency, was released in February 2006. It became a number one hit in Australia! Andy won an award in 2006 for Australia's Best Drummer.
The Living End continued their success with White Noise in July 2008, which reached number two. Their July 2011 album, The Ending Is Just the Beginning Repeating, peaked at number three.
Other Music Projects
After their 2011 album, The Living End took a break from writing and recording new music. During this time, Andy Strachan worked on his own project.
The Pants Collective
Andy recorded and released a 6-song EP under the name The Pants Collective. This EP was released on May 30, 2014. It was a chance for him to explore his own musical ideas.
Personal Life
By 2007, Andy Strachan was married to Jacki. From 2008, they were living in a town called Barwon Heads.
