Ang Soon Tong (Chinese: 洪顺堂; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: âng sūn tông) is a type of secret society that has been active in Singapore and Malaysia. These groups often operate in secret and are involved in activities that are against the law.
According to former police officers, Ang Soon Tong started operating as early as the 1950s. They were mainly active in the Sembawang area of Singapore.
In 1998, a young person created a website that was about the Ang Soon Tong group.
The Ang Soon Tong group has continued to be active in recent years. For example, in 2020, some of its members were involved in disagreements with other similar groups.
This group makes money through activities that are not allowed by law. These activities include selling weapons illegally, lending money at very high interest rates (illegal moneylending), and running illegal gambling operations. They also engage in extortion, which means forcing people to give them money or property, and robbery.
