Protecting the Angachilla Wetlands

Since December 2021, the wetlands around the Angachilla River have been officially recognized as urban wetlands. This means they are protected by a special law called the Urban Wetlands Law. This law helps to keep these important natural areas safe.

Plants in the River

An invasive plant species called Limnobium laevigatum can be found in the Angachilla River. This plant is also known as South American frogbit. Invasive plants are not native to an area and can sometimes harm the local environment by outcompeting native plants.
