Angelina Ballerina is a very popular series of children's books. It's all about a little mouse named Angelina Jeanette Mouseling. She has a big dream: to become a famous ballerina!

The books were created by author Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig. The very first book in the series came out in 1983. Since then, more than twenty books have been published. The stories take place in a town called Chipping Cheddar. This place is a bit like London was in the 1920s. The name "Angelina" was inspired by an editor named Angela at Aurum Press.

The Angelina Ballerina books have also been turned into two animated TV shows. The first was Angelina Ballerina (from 2002-2006). The second was a computer-animated series called Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps (from 2009–2010). There has even been a live ballet show that toured around!

The Angelina Ballerina stories have been brought to life in different ways.

The First TV Series

In 2001, a British animated TV show called Angelina Ballerina was made. It had 40 episodes, each about fifteen minutes long. This series was produced by HIT Entertainment in the United Kingdom.

The show featured famous actors lending their voices. Actress Finty Williams was the voice of Angelina. Her mother, Judi Dench, voiced Miss Lilly. The series was shown on PBS in the United States. In the United Kingdom, it aired on CITV and Nick Jr..

The Next Steps (CGI Series)

A newer computer-animated version, Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps, started in September 2009. It premiered on PBS stations. This show was directed by Davis Doi and animated by SD Entertainment.

Live Ballet Performances

The English National Ballet created a live stage show based on Angelina Ballerina. It was called Angelina's Star Performance. This ballet show toured in the autumn of 2007, bringing Angelina's dance dreams to life on stage.

Future Plans

In 2015, there was talk of making another new Angelina Ballerina series. This project was planned to be a team-up between Mattel (who bought HiT Entertainment) and 9 Story Media Group. A new Barney & Friends show was also announced at the same time. However, no new information about either of these revivals has been shared since then.
