María de los Ángeles Fernández Abad (born July 30, 1924 – died March 25, 1994), known as Angelines Fernández, was a Spanish-Mexican actress and comedian. She is most famous for playing Doña Clotilde, also known as "La Bruja del 71" (The Witch of 71), in the popular TV show El Chavo del Ocho. She moved to Mexico in 1947 because of political problems in Spain and lived there for the rest of her life.

Life and Acting Career

Angelines Fernández was born in Madrid, Spain, on July 30, 1924. She started her acting career in a musical comedy show in Madrid. In 1947, she moved to Mexico because she was afraid for her safety. She had supported the Republican side during the Spanish Civil War. She stayed in Mexico for the rest of her life, except for a short time in Cuba and some international tours.

Angelines Fernández acted in many films. One of her most famous movies was El Esqueleto de la señora Morales (1960). In 1964, she played a supporting role as Sara in the movie El padrecito, starring the famous actor Cantinflas. She also acted in several TV soap operas, called telenovelas, during the 1960s.

Her biggest role came in 1973 when she was hired to play "La Bruja del 71" in the TV show El Chavo del Ocho. She got this job after asking her friend, Ramón Valdés, if he knew of any acting opportunities. This role made her a very well-known actress.

She also appeared in another popular show by the same creator, Chespirito, called El Chapulín Colorado. Both El Chavo del Ocho and El Chapulín Colorado became huge hits around the world, especially in Latin America and even in her home country of Spain. These shows are still shown in reruns today. After 1974, she focused mainly on these shows.

Even after El Chavo del Ocho ended in 1979, she continued to play "La Bruja" in the longer Chespirito show and during live tours. Later, in the 1980s, she also played another character named Ignacia Fernández, or "Doña Nachita," a gossipy neighbor in the Los caquitos comedy sketches. She stayed on the Chespirito show until 1992.
