Ann Kok (born January 11, 1973) is a well-known actress, singer, and businesswoman from Singapore. She acts in television shows and movies when projects that interest her come along.

In the 1990s, Ann Kok was considered one of the top three actresses in Singapore. The media called her the "Third Ah Jie" (which means "Big Sister" in Chinese), placing her just after famous actresses Zoe Tay and Fann Wong.

Early Life

Ann is the youngest of six children in her family. She grew up with two sisters and three brothers.

Career in Acting and Music

Becoming a Star

Ann Kok's career began in 1993. She joined a talent competition called Star Search and was one of the finalists. This success earned her a contract to act on the TV channel SBC 8, which is now known as MediaCorp Channel 8.

She quickly became very popular in the 1990s, starring in many TV shows. Because of her fame, she was called the "Third Ah Jie" of Singapore's entertainment world. From 1995 to 1999, she won the Star Awards for Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes five years in a row. During this time, she also released three music albums.

In 2000, Ann decided to travel outside of Singapore to find new acting opportunities.

Return to Singapore and Continued Success

After working overseas, Ann returned to Singapore's entertainment industry. At first, she was often given smaller, supporting roles in TV shows.

However, she made a big comeback with her role in the show Love Concierge. People loved her performance, and she was nominated for the Star Awards for Best Actress for the first time in her career. This showed everyone that she was a very talented actress.

Since then, Ann has starred in many popular shows.

  • In 2009, she played a main character in the drama Housewives' Holiday, which earned her another Best Actress nomination.
  • In 2011, she appeared in several big shows, including Kampong Ties and Bountiful Blessings.
  • In 2012, she was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Asian Television Awards for two different shows, Kampong Ties and Show Hand. This was the first time an actress in Asia received two nominations in the same category.

After a break, Ann left the TV station MediaCorp in 2014 to work as a freelance actress. She has since appeared in the movie The Filial Party and the popular TV series Crescendo.

Life Outside of Acting

Besides acting, Ann Kok has also tried running her own businesses. She once opened a shop called BFF Zakka with actress Jesseca Liu, where they sold bags and accessories.

Later, in 2017, she opened a bakery called Harmony Bakery in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, which was known for its castella cakes. The shop closed in 2019.
