Anna Muylaert (born April 21, 1964) is a talented Brazilian filmmaker. She is known for directing, producing, and writing films and TV shows.

Anna's Early Life and Studies
Anna Muylaert studied filmmaking at the University of São Paulo (USP) from 1980 to 1984. After her studies, she worked as a film critic for magazines like IstoÉ. She also wrote for newspapers such as O Estado de S. Paulo.
In 1988, Anna joined the team of a TV show called TV Mix at Rede Gazeta. Later, in 1999, she worked as an editor and reporter for Matéria-Prima on TV Cultura. She also wrote scripts for popular children's TV shows like Mundo da Lua (1991–92) and Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum (1994–97).
Anna's Directing Journey
Anna Muylaert has directed six short films, which won awards at film festivals. Her first full-length movie was Durval Discos (2002). This film won seven awards at the Festival de Gramado, including Best Director and Best Film.
Seven years later, she released her second film, É Proibido Fumar. This movie won eight awards at the Festival de Brasília, including Best Screenplay and Best Film. Anna also directed Chamada a Cobrar (2012). This film was based on a TV movie she had directed earlier.
Her fourth film, The Second Mother, was shown at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. It also won an Audience Award at the Berlinale film festival. In 2016, her film Don't Call Me Son was shown for the first time at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.
