Anna Sloan, born on February 5, 1991, is a talented curler from Scotland. She played a key role as the "third" player for the famous team led by Eve Muirhead. With her Scottish team, Anna won several big championships. These include the European Championships in 2011 and 2017, and the World Championships in 2013. When representing Great Britain, her team earned a bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. They also placed fourth at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Anna Sloan's Curling Journey

Anna Sloan started her curling career early. She played as the "third" for Eve Muirhead's junior team. In 2009, they won the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships for Scotland. This was a great start to her career.

Early Wins and Medals

In 2010, Anna earned a silver medal at the European Championships. She was an alternate player for the Muirhead team. Around the same time, Anna also led her own women's curling team. She even beat Muirhead's team to win the 2011 Scottish Championships.

Before her first World Championship, Anna won another World Junior Championship in 2011. She played as the third for the Muirhead junior team again. A couple of weeks later, she led the Scottish team at the World Championships. They finished in ninth place. Anna also led Great Britain to gold medals at two other big events. These were the 2009 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival and the 2011 Winter Universiade.

Success with the Muirhead Team

Since the 2011-2012 curling season, Anna played as the "third" for the Muirhead team. Together, they achieved amazing success. They won the 2011 European Championships. Then, in 2013, they won the World Championships. This was Scotland's first world title in women's curling since 2002.

The team also won silver medals at the European Championships in 2012 and 2013. The 2013 Scottish world champion team included Muirhead, Sloan, Vicki Adams, and Claire Hamilton. This team was chosen to represent Great Britain at the 2014 Winter Olympics. There, they won a bronze medal, which was a huge achievement!

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, the team finished fourth. Lauren Gray joined the team as the lead player for these Games. After the 2017-2018 season, Anna decided to take a break from curling.

Anna Sloan studied sport and active lifestyle promotion. She attended Glasgow Caledonian University. She received a "Winning Student" award to help with her studies. Today, Anna lives in Stirling, Scotland.
