Anne Spencer, also known as Lady Anne Churchill, was an important English noblewoman. She lived from 1683 to 1716. She worked for Queen Anne as a "Lady of the Bedchamber" from 1702 to 1712. This was a special job helping the Queen.

Anne Spencer's Early Life

Anne was born on February 27, 1683. She was the third daughter of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, a very famous general. Her mother was Sarah Jenyns.

Her father, the Duke of Marlborough, was given a special title by the Holy Roman Emperor, Joseph I. This meant Anne was also considered a princess in some parts of Europe.

Marriage and Family

On January 2, 1700, Anne married Charles Spencer, 3rd Earl of Sunderland. Together, they had five children:

After her marriage, Anne became known as the Countess of Sunderland in 1702. It's important not to confuse her with her mother-in-law, who was also named Anne Spencer, Countess of Sunderland.

The title of Duke of Marlborough eventually passed from Anne's older sister, Henrietta, to Anne's son, Charles.

Later Life and Death

Anne Spencer passed away at the age of 33 on April 15, 1716. She was buried on April 24 in Brington, Northamptonshire.
