About Anselmo Ralph

His Music Journey
Anselmo Ralph lived in Madrid, Spain, in 1991 and 1992. He was really inspired by the singer Juan Luis Guerra from the Dominican Republic. In 1995, he went back to Angola. He started a hip hop group called NGB. This stood for Nova Geração Bantu, which means "New Bantu Generation."
The group released an album called Tá-se Bem in 1996. But they had money problems. This made it hard to share their music until 1999.
In 2000, Anselmo went back to New York. He tried to become a singer there. He joined a Latin rock band. They sang in Spanish for the American Latin music scene. But they didn't have much luck. This was because of problems with music labels and promoters. In 2001, he also tried singing in English. Some universities liked his music. But he didn't become famous.
Feeling a bit sad, he returned to Angola in 2003. He started working on an album in Portuguese. It was called Histórias de Amor, meaning "Love Stories." This album was for people in Angola and Portugal.
His album came out in 2006 and was a huge hit! Most of it was made by Angolan R&B producer Aires Francisco. His concerts were very popular. About 6,000 to 7,000 people came to see him. He was nominated for awards. He even won "Best African Artist" at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006. He got his award in Copenhagen.
After his big success, he released another album. It was called As Ultimas Historias de Amor. This album came out in February 2007. It included the popular song "Um Dois." For this album, he won "Best Male Voice" from Rádio Luanda in 2007. He then signed a deal with a big Angolan music company, LS Produções.
On February 14, 2009, he released his third album, O Cupido. This was a double CD and DVD. He held a concert to celebrate. More than 40,000 fans came over two days!
In 2011, Anselmo Ralph released a special single called "A Dor do Cupido." It sold so well in Portugal that it became "four times platinum." His fourth album, also named A Dor do Cupido, came out in March 2011. It had hit songs like "Não Me Toca" and "Animal." He performed over 50 concerts to promote it. The song Não Me Toca reached number 2 on the Portuguese singles chart.
In 2012, he joined a music project called "Team De Sonho." This means "The Dream Team." He sang on 5 songs. The group also performed big concerts in Johannesburg and Maputo.
He also released a "Best of" album. It had a new song called "Sem Ti." This album reached number 5 on the Portugal Albums Top 30 chart. In 2015, Anselmo Ralph signed with Sony Music. He planned to record three albums in Spanish.
From 2014 to 2018, Anselmo Ralph was a coach on The Voice Portugal. This is a TV show where singers compete. He was also a coach on The Voice Kids Portugal in 2014. He returned as a coach in 2022 and 2023 for The Voice Generations.
