Anthony Quantrell Brown (born November 6, 1972) is a former American football player. He played as an offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL) for five seasons. He was part of the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers teams. Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Utah Utes.
Anthony Brown's Early Life and College Years
Anthony Brown was born on November 6, 1972, in Okinawa, Japan. Because his parents were in the military, he grew up moving around a lot. This is often called being a "military brat." He went to Würzburg American High School in Würzburg, Germany.
After high school, Anthony played college football for the Utah Utes. He was on the team from 1991 to 1994. In 1994, he was recognized as a third-team All-American by the Associated Press. This means he was one of the best college players in the country.
Anthony Brown's NFL Career
After college, Anthony Brown was not chosen in the main 1995 NFL draft. This means he was "undrafted." However, he still got a chance to play professional football. On April 26, 1995, he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.
During his first year in 1995, he played in seven games and started one. He continued to play for the Bengals in 1996 and 1997. In 1998, he played in all 16 games for the Bengals and started five of them. After the 1998 season, he became a "free agent." This means he was free to sign with any team he wanted.
On April 23, 1999, Anthony Brown signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played in 16 games for the Steelers that year, starting 11 of them. He was released by the Steelers in August 2000.
