Anthony Brown was born on November 6, 1972, in Okinawa, Japan. Because his parents were in the military, he grew up moving around a lot. He attended Würzburg American High School in Würzburg, Germany.
Playing for the Utah Utes
Anthony played college football for the Utah Utes. He was part of the team from 1991 to 1994. He earned a "letterman" award for two years, from 1993 to 1994. This award means he was a key player on the team. In 1994, he was named a third-team All-American. This honor meant he was one of the best college players in the entire country!
Anthony Brown's Professional Football Career
Starting with the Cincinnati Bengals
After college, Anthony Brown was not chosen in the 1995 NFL draft. However, he still got a chance to play professionally. He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on April 26, 1995. In his first year, 1995, he played in seven games and started one. He continued to play for the Bengals in 1996 and 1997. In 1998, he played in all 16 games for the Bengals and started five of them.
Moving to the Pittsburgh Steelers
After the 1998 season, Anthony became a free agent. This meant he could sign with any team. On April 23, 1999, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. During the 1999 season, he played in 16 games and started 11 of them. He was released by the Steelers in August 2000.
