Anthony Rishard "Boobie" Dixon, born on September 24, 1987, is a former American professional football player. He was a talented running back, known for his powerful runs. The San Francisco 49ers picked him in the 2010 NFL Draft. Before turning pro, he played college football at Mississippi State University, where he set many school records for rushing yards.

Early Life and High School Football

Anthony Dixon grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. He played football at Terry High School. In his senior year, 2005, he was an amazing player. He ran for 2,683 yards and scored 31 touchdowns. This helped his team finish with a great 11–2 record.

His performance earned him the "Jackson metro-area player of the year" award. He was also named to the All-State team. Experts considered him one of the top high school players in Mississippi. He was a highly sought-after player by many colleges.

He chose to play for Mississippi State University. He picked them over other big schools like the University of Alabama and Louisiana State University.

College Football Career

Anthony Dixon, nicknamed "Boobie" by his teammates, had a fantastic college career. His nickname came from a character in the movie Friday Night Lights.

Freshman Season (2006)

As a freshman, Dixon played in all 12 games. He started five of them. He set new records for freshmen at Mississippi State. These records were for rushing attempts, rushing yards, and touchdowns. His nine touchdowns were the most by a Bulldog player since 2000.

Sophomore Season (2007)

In his second year, Dixon played in all 13 games and started 12. He became only the seventh player in school history to run for over 1,000 yards in a single season. He was also the first sophomore to do so. He scored the winning touchdown in the 2007 Liberty Bowl game.

Junior Season (2008)

During his junior year, Dixon started all 12 games he played. He rushed for 869 yards. He also averaged a career-best 4.4 yards per carry.

Senior Season (2009)

Dixon had an incredible senior season, rushing for 1,391 yards. This set a new Mississippi State single-season rushing record. He broke the old record set in 1998. He also became one of only seven players in Southeastern Conference history to lead his team in rushing for four straight years. He finished his college career with 3,994 total rushing yards.

Professional Football Career

NFL Draft (2010)

Anthony Dixon was seen as one of the best "power backs" in the 2010 NFL draft. He was expected to be picked in the third or fourth round. However, the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the sixth round. He was the 173rd player chosen overall.

San Francisco 49ers (2010–2013)

After another player retired, Dixon competed for a key running back spot. In the preseason, he led the entire NFL in rushing yards and touchdowns. He scored his first NFL touchdown on September 20, 2010. This was during a game against the New Orleans Saints.

Dixon played in all 72 games of his NFL career, mostly on special teams. In 2012, Dixon and the 49ers reached Super Bowl XLVII. He played on special teams, but the 49ers lost to the Baltimore Ravens. His only start for the 49ers was in the 2013 NFC Championship game. He scored a touchdown in that game. He finished his 49ers career with 458 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

Buffalo Bills (2014–2015)

On March 15, 2014, Dixon signed a three-year contract with the Buffalo Bills. This was his most successful year in the NFL. He had career highs in rushing attempts (105) and rushing yards (432). He also caught eight passes for 49 yards. Dixon scored two rushing touchdowns that season.

In 2015, Dixon's playing time and production decreased. He scored only one rushing touchdown. He had 44 rushing yards and 44 receiving yards. The Bills released him on March 1, 2016.

The Spring League (2017)

After not playing in 2016, Dixon joined The Spring League. This league helps players show their skills to NFL and Canadian Football League teams. Dixon was one of the league's well-known players. He played in games held in West Virginia and California.

Playing as a fullback for Team California, Dixon had an exciting game. His first run was a 49-yard touchdown. Later, he caught a 4-yard touchdown pass. Both scores happened on fourth down. He finished the game with 55 rushing yards and 23 receiving yards, scoring two touchdowns.

Personal Life

Anthony Dixon is a Christian. He often shares his faith on social media. He describes himself as a "God Fearing Man."

Anthony has three younger brothers: Antwon, Rashun, and Deshun. Antwon and Rashun both planned to play football at Mississippi State. However, neither played there. Antwon went to a community college before transferring to another university. Rashun was drafted by the Oakland As in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft and chose to play professional baseball. Deshun was also drafted in the MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2010.
