Anthony Mark Johnson (born October 2, 1974) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played as a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Anthony was known for his hard work and became the first player from the NBA D-League (a league for developing players) to play in the NBA Finals. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina.

Early Life and College Basketball
Anthony Johnson grew up in Charleston, South Carolina. He played basketball at R.B. Stall High School. He was a very good player there.
After high school, Anthony went to the College of Charleston. His older brother, Steven, had also played basketball there. Anthony became one of the best players in his college conference. In 1997, he was named the conference's Player of the Year. That same year, he helped his team win a game in the NCAA basketball tournament. This was a big achievement for the College of Charleston.
Anthony Johnson's NBA Journey
Anthony Johnson made history for the College of Charleston. He was the first player from his college to be chosen in the NBA Draft. The Sacramento Kings picked him in 1997. In his first season, he started 62 games. He scored about 7.5 points per game.
Over the next few years, Anthony played for several NBA teams. These included the Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New Jersey Nets. He also spent some time playing in the NBDL (now called the G-League) for the Mobile Revelers.
Finding His Stride with the Pacers
In the 2003–2004 season, Anthony joined the Indiana Pacers. This was a great time for his career. He played nearly 22 minutes per game and scored 6.5 points per game. Before the 2004–2005 season, he signed a four-year contract with the Pacers. This was his first long-term deal in the NBA.
During the 2004–2005 season, the Pacers' main point guard was injured. This gave Anthony Johnson a chance to start many games. He played a big role for the team.
In the 2006 NBA Playoffs, Anthony had an amazing game. He scored a career-high 40 points against the New Jersey Nets. Even with his incredible effort, the Pacers lost that game and the series.
Moving Teams and Reaching the Finals
After his time with the Pacers, Anthony Johnson was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2006. He then returned to the Atlanta Hawks for his third time with the team in 2007.
In 2008, he was traded back to the Sacramento Kings. Later that year, Anthony signed a two-year contract with the Orlando Magic. This was his second time playing for the Magic. He played in 111 games for them. In 2009, he helped the Orlando Magic reach the 2009 NBA Finals. This was a highlight of his career. His contract with the Magic ended after the 2009-2010 season. Anthony Johnson retired from playing professional basketball in 2010.
