Anthony Middleton (died 1590) was an English Roman Catholic priest. He is remembered as a martyr, which means he died for his religious beliefs. Anthony Middleton came from Yorkshire, a county in England.
He received his training to become a priest at Douai College. This college was located in France and was a place where English Catholics could study during a time when their religion faced challenges in England. After finishing his studies, Anthony Middleton returned to England in 1586.
In 1590, he was captured in Fleet Street, a well-known area in London. He died on 6 May 1590, along with another person named Edward Jones.
Anthony Middleton was later honored by the Catholic Church. On 15 December 1929, he was "beatified" by Pope Pius XI. Beatification is a step towards becoming a saint, recognizing someone's special holiness and faith. His "feast day" is celebrated on 6 May each year. A feast day is a special day set aside to remember and honor a saint or a blessed person.
