Starting His Career
Antoni Grover joined the Fremantle Football Club in 1999. He was picked from the rookie list. His first game was in Round 21. This match was against the Sydney Swans. After this, he became a very important player for the team.
A Key Defender
Antoni was a consistent defender for Fremantle. He was also very good at catching the ball. This skill is called marking in Australian rules football. In 2005, he was one of the top players for marks on his team. He helped protect Fremantle's goal.
A Special Game for Indigenous Players
In 2003, something special happened. In Round 4, Antoni Grover was one of seven Indigenous players. They all played for Fremantle in the same game. This was the most Indigenous players ever in one AFL team. The other players were Troy Cook, Jeff Farmer, Des Headland, Roger Hayden, Steven Koops and Dion Woods. Fremantle also scored their highest ever score in that game. They kicked 25 goals and 17 behinds, making 167 points.
Reaching 200 Games
In 2010, Antoni signed a new contract. This allowed him to keep playing for Fremantle. He became one of the few players to reach 200 games for the club. In 2011, he was the only "veteran" player on Fremantle's list. He played his 200th game in Round 22, 2011. This was against the North Melbourne team. Antoni was the fifth player and the first Indigenous player to reach 200 games for Fremantle.
Retirement
Antoni Grover announced his retirement in 2012. He finished his career having played 202 games. All of his games were for the Fremantle Football Club.
