AFL Career Highlights
Playing for Melbourne
Jeff Farmer was known as "The Wizard" or "The Wiz." This nickname came from his amazing ability to score goals from difficult situations. He started his AFL career with the Melbourne Football Club in 1995.
One of his best games was in 2000 against Collingwood. He kicked 9 goals in the second half of that game. He also kicked 8 goals against North Melbourne in a big final game in 2000. That year, he scored a career-high 76 goals. He was also named in the All-Australian team, which means he was one of the best players in the league.
After playing 118 games and scoring 259 goals for Melbourne, he moved to the Fremantle Dockers at the end of 2001.
Playing for Fremantle
When Farmer joined Fremantle, he continued to be a key player. He was one of their top goal scorers in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
In 2006, Farmer played a big part in helping the Dockers reach the finals. This was only the second time the team had made it to the finals. He kicked 50 goals in just 19 matches that season.
On 18 August 2007, during a game against St Kilda, Farmer got a facial injury. He had to leave the game early. Jeff Farmer announced his retirement from the AFL at the end of the 2008 AFL season. He finished his AFL career having played 249 games.
After the AFL
In 2009, after his AFL career, Farmer played for the South Fremantle Football Club. He was part of the team that won the West Australian Football League premiership that year.
