Antonio de Oro Pulido was a Spanish military officer, explorer, and administrator. He was born in Ciempozuelos, Spain, on April 13, 1904. He passed away in Tetuán, in what was then Spanish Morocco, on December 28, 1940.
About Antonio de Oro
Antonio de Oro began his career in the Spanish military. He served in the Spanish territories in Africa, starting as a captain. Over time, he rose through the ranks to become a lieutenant colonel.
In 1938, Antonio de Oro played a key role in founding the city of El Aaiún. This city later became the capital of Spanish Sahara in 1940. Spanish Sahara was a territory in Africa that was controlled by Spain.
Sadly, Antonio de Oro died on December 28, 1940, due to a sudden illness called sepsis. Today, there is a street named after him in his hometown of Ciempozuelos, called "Calle Capitán Antonio de Oro."
