Anwar Mohammed Gargash (born 28 March 1959) is an important politician from the United Arab Emirates. He used to be the top diplomat for foreign affairs, helping the UAE work with other countries. Since February 2021, he has been a special advisor to the UAE's president, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Education and Early Life
Anwar Gargash studied a lot! He earned his first degree in 1981. Then, he got a master's degree in 1984. Both of these were in political science from George Washington University in the United States.
Later, he continued his studies in England. He received his PhD from King's College, Cambridge in 1990.
Career in Government
Anwar Gargash started his career as a teacher. He worked at United Arab Emirates University from 1985 to 1995.
He also worked as an editor for important studies. From 1995 to 2006, he was the chief executive officer of Gargash Enterprise. He also led the National Election Committee for a short time.
In 2006, he became a minister. He was appointed as the Minister of State for the Federal National Council. This role involved working with the UAE's parliament.
In February 2008, he took on a new big role. He became the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. This meant he helped manage the UAE's relationships with other countries. He held this important job until February 2021.
In August 2020, he announced a big step for peace. The UAE agreed to normalize relations with Israel. He said the UAE wanted to help solve problems in the region. He encouraged Palestinians and Israelis to talk and find solutions.
After leaving his foreign affairs role, he became a special advisor. He now advises the UAE President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In 2022, he stated that the UAE would not take sides in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Anwar Gargash has also been involved in many important groups. These include the UAE's Culture and Science Symposium and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. He has also worked with Emirates Media and the Dubai School of Government. He is also connected to the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy.
Awards and Recognition
Anwar Gargash has received special awards for his work. In 2017, he got the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. This award came from George Washington University, where he studied. He also received the Abu Dhabi Award in 2017.
Personal Life
Anwar Gargash comes from a well-known family in Dubai. His family has a history in trading. They are part of the Huwala minority group in the UAE.
