Anwar Mohammed Gargash (Arabic: أنور محمد قرقاش; born 28 March 1959) is an important politician from the UAE. He served as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs from February 2008 to February 2021. Since February 2021, he has been a top diplomatic advisor to the UAE president. This means he helps guide the country's relationships with other nations.

Education and Learning
Anwar Gargash studied political science at George Washington University. He earned his first degree in 1981 and a master's degree in 1984. Later, he continued his studies at King's College at Cambridge University. He received his PhD from there in 1990.
A Career in Public Service

Anwar Gargash has held many important roles. From 1995 to 1999, he worked as an editor for strategic studies publications. He was also the chief executive officer of Gargash Enterprise from 1995 to 2006.
Key Government Roles
In 2006, he became the Minister of State for the Federal National Council. This role involved working with the UAE's main advisory body. In February 2008, he was appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. He held this position for many years, until February 2021. In this role, he helped manage the UAE's relationships with countries around the world.
Working for Peace
On August 13, 2020, Anwar Gargash announced a big step for the UAE. His country agreed to normalize relations with Israel. He explained that the UAE wanted to help solve problems in the region. This included encouraging Palestinians and Israelis to talk and find peaceful solutions.
After leaving his minister role in February 2021, he became a diplomatic advisor. He now advises the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In February 2022, he stated that the UAE would not take sides in the conflict after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Mr. Gargash has also been part of many important organizations in the UAE. He served on the boards of groups like the UAE's Culture and Science Symposium and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He also worked with the Dubai School of Government and the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy. These roles show his dedication to public service and education.
Personal Life and Awards
Anwar Gargash comes from a well-known trading family in Dubai. His family is part of the Huwala community in the UAE.
In 2017, he received a special award from George Washington University. It was called the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. He also received the Abu Dhabi Award in 2017, recognizing his contributions to the emirate.
