Aptripel Tumimomor (born April 3, 1966 – died April 2, 2020) was an Indonesian politician, businessman, and engineer. He served as the Regent of North Morowali Regency in Central Sulawesi. This means he was the main leader of that area, similar to a mayor for a large region. He held this important role from February 17, 2016, until he passed away on April 2, 2020, due to COVID-19.

About Aptripel Tumimomor
Aptripel Tumimomor was born on April 3, 1966, in a place called Kolonodale in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. He was part of the Mori people, who are native to the area that is now North Morowali Regency. His parents, Hendrik Tumimomor Kamesi and Maligene Damantora Lande, were both teachers. Aptripel Tumimomor was also a descendant of Mokole Ede Kamesi, who was known as King Mori. This king ruled the small Mori Kingdom in Central Sulawesi from 1907 to 1928.
Early Life and Education
Aptripel Tumimomor went to elementary school in Tomata village. He then attended high school in Poso. After high school, he studied civil engineering at Paulus Christian University of Indonesia (UKIP) in Makassar. Civil engineering is about designing and building things like roads, bridges, and buildings. He later earned his master's degree in civil engineering from the same university.
His Career and Leadership
Before becoming a politician, Aptripel Tumimomor was a successful businessman. He owned several businesses, including hotels in Kendari and plantations in Mamuju Regency. He also had a construction company. Besides his businesses, he also taught at Paulus Christian University of Indonesia, the university where he had studied.
Becoming a Leader
In February 2016, Aptripel Tumimomor was chosen as the Regent of North Morowali in a local election. His partner in the election, Asrar Abdul Samad, became the Vice Regent. Tumimomor and Samad won the election with 1,949 votes. They were sworn into office on February 17, 2016, by the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Longki Djanggola.
In March 2020, Tumimomor supported a plan by the Mori tribe. They wanted King Mori Mokole Marunduh to be named a National Hero of Indonesia. This is a special honor for people who have done great things for their country. Before he became ill, Aptripel Tumimomor was planning to run for Regent again in 2020 for a second term.
His Final Days
Aptripel Tumimomor became sick in late March 2020. He was first treated at a hospital in Kolonadale. Then, on April 1, 2020, he was moved to a hospital in Makassar because his health was getting worse. The next day, on April 2, 2020, Aptripel Tumimomor passed away at Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo General Hospital in Makassar. He was 53 years old.
A quick test for coronavirus done in Kolonadale first showed he was negative. However, a more detailed test given at the Makassar hospital later confirmed that he had COVID-19. The results of this second test were confirmed on April 4, two days after he passed away. He is survived by his wife, HO Liliana, and their three children: Andhyka Haryanto, Arlyn Stevani, and Arfan Irvanoff.
Aptripel Tumimomor was buried at a cemetery for civil servants in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The burial was done with special safety steps because of the coronavirus. Officials wore hazmat suits, masks, and used plastic wrap to ensure safety.
