The Aquarius Plateau is a special high land area in south-central Utah. It's part of the larger Colorado Plateau. You can find it in Garfield and Wayne counties.

Exploring the Aquarius Plateau

The Aquarius Plateau is a huge, high area of land. It was formed by the Earth's movements, pushing the land upwards. This makes it the highest plateau in all of North America.

This amazing area covers more than 900 square miles (2,330 square kilometers). Much of this land is covered in forests. A big part of it is also within the Dixie National Forest.

High Peaks and Hills

The plateau has many rolling hills and high areas. Over 50,000 acres (200 square kilometers) of the land is above 11,000 feet (3,350 meters).

The highest point on the Aquarius Plateau is Boulder Mountain. Its very top is called Bluebell Knoll. It reaches an impressive height of 11,328 feet (3,453 meters).

Several beautiful parks and protected areas are found on or near the Aquarius Plateau. These places help protect the natural beauty and wildlife of the region.
