Arab is a small, unincorporated community located in southern Bollinger County, Missouri, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a recognized place, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

Discovering Arab, Missouri

Arab is found in the southeastern part of Missouri. It's about four miles south of a place called Zalma, Missouri. You can also find it about 16 miles north of Puxico, Missouri.

Where is Arab Located?

This community sits right where a few roads meet. These roads are Missouri Route 51, Missouri Route C, and Missouri Route P. Another town, Dexter, Missouri, is about twenty miles to the south-southeast.

How Arab Got Its Name

The community of Arab was started in 1908. It was named after the city of Arab, Alabama. This is a common way for places to get their names, by honoring other towns or people.

A Community on the Move

Interestingly, Arab wasn't always in Bollinger County. When it was first established, it was located in Wayne County, Missouri. But in 1943, the entire community, including its post office, moved. It relocated about four miles away to its current spot in southern Bollinger County.
