Arabella Miho Steinbacher (born November 14, 1981) is a famous German classical violinist. She plays beautiful music on her violin for audiences all over the world.

About Arabella Steinbacher

Arabella Steinbacher was born in Munich, Germany. Her mother is Japanese, and her father is German. When she was just three years old, Arabella started playing the violin! Her mom learned about the Suzuki method, a special way to teach music to young children.

When Arabella was nine, she joined the Munich College of Music. There, she learned from a great teacher named Ana Chumachenco. Arabella also got to work with other famous violinists like Ivry Gitlis. She even took special classes from Dorothy DeLay and Kurt Sassmannshaus in Aspen, Colorado.

Arabella won several important awards early in her career. These included a prize at the International Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hanover. She also received a special grant from the Free State of Bavaria in 2001. Later, she became a student in a program called "Anne-Sophie Mutter's circle of friends." This program helps talented young musicians.

Performing Around the World

Arabella Steinbacher often performs with some of the best orchestras globally. She has played with groups like the New York Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra.

She has given amazing concerts with many other famous orchestras. These include the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Vienna Symphony. Arabella has worked with many well-known conductors too. Some of them are Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, and Riccardo Chailly.

Recordings and Special Projects

Arabella Steinbacher has recorded many albums. Since 2009, she has recorded only for a company called PENTATONE. Her recordings have won several awards, including the ECHO Klassik twice.

Arabella is also an ambassador for CARE. This means she uses her music to help people in need. After a big tsunami hit Japan in 2011, she went on a special tour there. She wanted to bring hope and support through her music. A DVD called Arabella Steinbacher – Music of Hope was made about this tour. It showed her helping others and playing for young people.

Arabella plays a very special violin called the Booth Stradivarius. This violin was made in 1716 and is loaned to her by the Nippon Music Foundation. In 2017, she married Wolfgang Schaufler. He is a publisher for a music company in Vienna. In April 2023, Arabella performed a brand new violin concerto for the first time. It was called "To beam in distant heavens..." and was written by composer Georges Lentz.
