From Student to Star
Aram Sargsyan was born in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Even as a kid, he loved being on stage and was part of many choirs and plays.
Interestingly, he didn't study music or acting at first. He went to Yerevan State Medical University and graduated in 2006 with a degree in pharmacy. While he was a student, he discovered his talent for comedy. He joined a popular comedy show called KVN and performed with his university's team. He was so good that he later joined the Armenian team Ararat and performed in Moscow.
Building a Career in Entertainment
The Start of "Aram Mp3"
In 2006, Aram and some other comedians started a comedy show called 32 Teeth. During the show, he often sang funny versions of popular songs. His friend and colleague, Vahagn Grigoryan, gave him the nickname "Aram Mp3" because of his musical performances, referring to the MP3 digital audio format. The name stuck!
In 2007, he won a TV singing competition called 2 Stars, which made him even more famous in Armenia.
Becoming a TV Host
Aram didn't just stick to comedy. He started singing in jazz and blues clubs and making his own music videos. He also became a popular host for big TV shows in Armenia, like X-Factor and Hay Superstar.
In 2010, he and his friends created another successful comedy show called Vitamin Club. He also co-hosted a popular evening show, proving he was a multi-talented entertainer.
The Eurovision Song Contest
By 2013, Aram was focusing more on his music. He released his own songs, like "Shine" and "If I Tried."
On New Year's Eve of 2013, it was announced that Aram Mp3 would represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Denmark. His song for the competition was "Not Alone", a powerful ballad that builds into a dubstep-style chorus.
Before the contest, some comments he made about another contestant, Conchita Wurst from Austria, caused some controversy. Aram later explained that his words were meant as a joke and that he did not mean to offend anyone. He apologized for his comments and was later seen hugging and talking with Conchita, showing that there were no hard feelings between them.
At Eurovision, Aram performed first in the first semi-final and easily qualified for the Grand Final. In the final, he performed seventh and gave a memorable performance. He finished in 4th place with 174 points, which was a great result for Armenia.
Life After Eurovision
After his success at Eurovision, Aram Mp3 became an even bigger star. He appeared as a guest on popular TV shows like The Voice and X Factor.
In 2016, he took on a fun new role. He was the voice of the adult Simba in the Armenian-dubbed version of the Disney movie The Lion King. He also sang the lead on the famous song Circle of Life for the movie.
He has continued to release music and collaborate with other Armenian artists. In 2017, he worked with singer Iveta Mukuchyan on a project called "Dashterov," which featured traditional Armenian songs. He also participated in a charity project to help children with cancer in Armenia.

Aram married his wife, Anna Margaryan, in April 2008. They have a son named Arno, who was born in June 2011.
