Ricardo Arap Bethke Galdames (born on March 12, 1980) is a well-known Mexican actor. He has starred in many TV shows and movies.
Early life
Arap Bethke was born in Nairobi, Kenya, on March 12, 1980. His full name is Ricardo Arap Bethke Galdames. In the Kalenjin language, "Arap Bethke" means "Bethke's son."
His father, Claus Bethke, is German, and his mother, Patricia Galdames, is Chilean. Arap lived in Nairobi until he was 5 years old. His father worked for the United Nations, which meant his family moved around a lot.
When he was very young, he moved to Mexico. He spent his whole childhood and teenage years there. He went to Peterson College for high school. Later, he studied at the Universidad Iberoamericana. He earned a degree in communication from there.
Arap has two brothers and one sister. His sister was born in Washington, United States. One of his brothers, Beto Bethke, was born in Ecuador. Arap is very good with languages. He can speak Spanish, English, Italian, and French. Because he was born in Kenya and grew up in Mexico, he sometimes calls himself a "Mexikenian."
Career
Arap Bethke started his acting career in 1997. One of his first big roles was "Chacho" in the TV show Clase 406.
In 2007, he appeared in an episode of the popular show Ugly Betty. He played Antonio Barreiro, a cafe waiter. He also starred in "Tierra de pasiones."
Later, he played Demetrio Aguirre in Madre Luna. Arap was also one of the main characters in Doña Bárbara (Telemundo series). In this show, he played Antonio Sandoval.
He also had a guest role in the first season of RBD: La Familia. He played Álvaro, a new love interest for Dulce Maria. The show featured the famous Latin pop band RBD.
Arap Bethke now lives in Los Angeles, California.
