Ardenwald-Johnson Creek, often just called Ardenwald, is a cool neighborhood in Oregon. It sits right on the border between two cities: Portland and Milwaukie. This means parts of it are in Multnomah County (Portland's county) and parts are in Clackamas County (Milwaukie's county). Both Portland and Milwaukie officially recognize Ardenwald as one of their neighborhoods.

A Look Back at Ardenwald
Ardenwald got its name way back in 1888. It was named after Arden M. Rockwood. His father helped plan and divide the land for the community. The name "Ardenwald" combines Arden's first name with part of his last name, "Rockwood," but with a German twist. The neighborhood's main spot is around Ardenwald Elementary School.
Nature and Trails in Ardenwald
The Tideman Johnson Natural Area was created in 1940. It's a special place along Johnson Creek in Ardenwald. The Springwater Corridor Trail runs right next to Johnson Creek. This trail is 21 miles long and is great for biking between Portland and Boring.
You can get onto the Springwater Corridor Trail from two spots in Ardenwald. One access point is at the north end of SE 28th Avenue. The other is at the Johnson Creek Boulevard Trailhead. This is where the trail crosses the road.

The community also hosts a summer concert series. These concerts happen in Ardenwald Park. This park is right next to Ardenwald Elementary School.
