Arditta, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Arditta is a small, quiet place located in the southwestern part of Howell County, in the southern Missouri, United States. It's part of the beautiful Ozarks region, known for its hills and forests.

Arditta is an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or city council, unlike a town or city. It's situated right on U.S. Route 160, a main road that connects different areas. You can find Arditta between two other small places called Egypt Grove and Caulfield. It's also about twelve miles southwest of a larger town called West Plains.

History of Arditta

Arditta once had its own post office, which is a place where people send and receive mail. This post office opened in 1904. It served the community for many years, helping people connect with others through letters and packages. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1934.

The name "Arditta" is quite a mystery! No one knows for sure where the name came from or what it means. It's one of those historical puzzles that remains unsolved.

In 1925, Arditta was a very small community. Records show that only 14 people lived there at that time. This shows it was a tiny settlement, likely with just a few families.
