What Does Ardmulchan Fort Look Like?

Ardmulchan Fort is an oval-shaped mound made of earth. It has a flat top. Imagine a big, raised platform of dirt. The top of the fort measures about 36 meters (118 feet) from north to south. It is about 27 meters (89 feet) from east to west.

The fort is not the same height all around. At its tallest point, on the north side, it is about 6.6 meters (22 feet) high. On the south side, it is a bit lower, at about 4.4 meters (14 feet) high. A steep slope, called a scarp, goes all around the bottom of the fort. This scarp helps to define the shape of the rath.
