Ariane Labed (born May 8, 1984) is a talented French actress and film director. She became famous for her first movie, Attenberg, where she won a big award called the Volpi Cup for Best Actress. She also acted in the film Mary Magdalene in 2018.

Early Life and Theater Beginnings
Ariane Labed was born to French parents. She spent her first six years in Athens, Greece. Later, she moved to Germany, and then to France when she was 12 years old.
Ariane loved theater from a young age. She studied acting at the University of Provence. There, she met a Greek director named Argyro Chioti. In 2005, they started a theater group called VASISTAS. This group is still active in Greece today. Ariane also performed at the National Theater of Greece.
Becoming a Film Star
Ariane Labed's first movie was Attenberg, released in 2010. She won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the 67th Venice International Film Festival for her role. This was a huge start to her film career!
She then worked with director Yorgos Lanthimos on films like Alps and The Lobster. In 2016, she played Maria in the movie Assassin's Creed. She acted alongside famous actor Michael Fassbender. In 2018, she appeared as Rachel in the film Mary Magdalene.
Directing Films
Ariane Labed isn't just an actress; she's also a director! She made her first movie as a director called September Says. She also wrote the screenplay for this film. It was based on a book called Sisters by Daisy Johnson. September Says was shown for the first time at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

Ariane Labed is married to Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos. They got married in 2013. They lived in London from 2011 to 2021. Now, they mostly live in Athens, Greece.
