Arnold Scholten was born on December 5, 1962, in Den Bosch, Netherlands. He is a famous Dutch football coach and a former player. Arnold played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defend. He played for several well-known clubs like Den Bosch, Ajax, Feyenoord, and even in Japan for JEF United Ichihara. Because of his light blonde hair, people called him The White Socrates, comparing him to the famous Brazilian football star, Sócrates.

Arnold Scholten's Playing Career
Arnold Scholten started his professional football journey with his hometown club, Den Bosch, in 1983. He quickly showed his talent as a midfielder. After three years, he moved to one of the biggest clubs in the Netherlands, Ajax, in 1986.
Time at Ajax and Feyenoord
At Ajax, Arnold played for four years, helping the team win important trophies. In 1990, he moved to another top Dutch club, Feyenoord. He spent five successful years there, playing many matches and scoring goals. He was known for his smart play and ability to control the game from the midfield.
After his time at Feyenoord, Arnold returned to Ajax in 1995 for two more seasons. He continued to be a key player, helping Ajax achieve more success.
Playing in Japan

With Ajax, he won the top Dutch league, the Eredivisie, in the 1995–96 season. He also helped them win the KNVB Cup in 1986–87. One of his biggest achievements was winning the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1986–87, which was a major European competition. Ajax also won the Johan Cruijff Schaal (Dutch Supercup) in 1995, the UEFA Super Cup in 1995, and the Intercontinental Cup in 1995. He was also part of the team that reached the UEFA Champions League final in 1995–96.
Success with Feyenoord
At Feyenoord, Arnold also won the Eredivisie in the 1992–93 season. He had great success in the KNVB Cup, winning it four times: in 1990–91, 1991–92, 1993–94, and 1994–95. He also won the Johan Cruijff Schaal with Feyenoord in 1991.
Success with Den Bosch
Even with his first club, Den Bosch, Arnold helped them win the Eerste Divisie (the second-highest Dutch league) twice, in 1998–99 and 2000–01.

After retiring as a player, Arnold Scholten became a football coach. He has mostly focused on coaching young players.
He started as a technical director at Den Bosch from 2001 to 2002. Then, he became a youth coach at RKC Waalwijk from 2002 to 2006.
Since 2006, Arnold has spent a lot of his coaching career at Feyenoord, working with their youth teams. He also had a period as a youth coach at Den Bosch from 2009 to 2017. From 2019 to 2020, he coached Jong Feyenoord, which is Feyenoord's reserve team. He continues to work as a youth coach at Feyenoord, helping to train the next generation of football stars.
