Arrow Valley Country Park, also known as Arrow Valley Park, is a fantastic green space located in Redditch, Worcestershire, England. It's a special type of park called a country park, which means it's a large area of countryside open for everyone to enjoy. This park is built right along the River Arrow, making it a beautiful spot for nature lovers and outdoor adventurers.

Discovering Arrow Valley Park

This amazing park was created in the 1970s by the Redditch Development Corporation. It covers a huge area, about 900 acres (which is roughly 3.6 square kilometers) of open space for the public. Imagine all that room to explore!

A big part of the park is the beautiful Arrow Valley Lake. This lake is about 27 acres in size and is a popular spot for many fun activities.

What Can You Do at the Lake?

The lake is a hub of activity, especially if you love being on the water or watching wildlife.

  • Dinghy Sailing: If you enjoy sailing small boats, this is the place to be! The lake is perfect for dinghy sailing.
  • Fishing: Many people come here to enjoy a peaceful day of fishing.
  • Birdwatching: The lake is also a great place for birdwatching. You can spot many different types of birds living around the water.

The Redditch Sailing Club calls Arrow Valley Lake home. They even race boats up to 14 feet long! There's also a special program called Youth Afloat. This initiative helps give children who might not usually get the chance, an amazing experience learning how to sail.

A Green Flag Award Winner

Arrow Valley Park is a really well-kept and special place. In 2005, it was honored with a Civic Trust Green Flag Award. This award is like a badge of honor for parks, showing that they are excellent green spaces that are well-managed and welcoming for everyone.

The Countryside Centre

To help visitors make the most of their trip, the park has a special building called the Countryside Centre. This visitor centre opened in the year 2000. It's usually open most days, and you can find it off the B4497 on Battens Drive. It's a great place to learn more about the park and its wildlife.
