The River Arrow is a river in England. It flows through the counties of Worcestershire and Warwickshire. The River Arrow is a smaller river that eventually joins the larger River Avon.

Journey of the River Arrow
The River Arrow starts its journey on Beacon Hill. This hill is part of the Lickey Hills Country Park in northern Worcestershire. From there, the river flows mostly towards the southeast. It becomes an important river that feeds into the River Avon.
Places the River Arrow Flows Through
As the river travels, it passes by several interesting places:
- It flows through a village called Cofton Hackett.
- It then helps fill the Lower Bittell Reservoir.
- The river continues through the village of Alvechurch.
- Next, it reaches the Arrow Valley Country Park in the town of Redditch. This park is a great place for outdoor activities.
The River Enters Warwickshire
After leaving Redditch, the River Arrow crosses into Warwickshire.
- It flows through the green river meadows near Studley.
- The river then passes through the village of Spernall.
- It goes by Coughton Court, a historic property looked after by the National Trust. Here, a small road crosses the river through a shallow area called a ford.
Meeting Other Rivers and Mills
The River Arrow then reaches the small market town of Alcester.
- In Alcester, the River Arrow is joined by its biggest helper, the River Alne.
- The river continues south through the village of Arrow. Here, you can still see the waterwheel at the old Arrow Mill, which used the river's power.
- Finally, the River Arrow flows through the villages of Wixford and Broom.
Where the Journey Ends
The River Arrow finishes its journey at Marriage Hill. This is near Salford Priors, close to the border of Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Here, the River Arrow joins the River Avon.
When the River Arrow Floods
Sometimes, rivers can overflow their banks, which is called flooding. The River Arrow has flooded a few times in recent history.
Past Flooding Events
- In 1998, the river flooded for the first time since 1956. The water went over its banks and flooded a large part of the town of Alcester.
- The river flooded again during the night of July 20-21, 2007. This time, about 112 homes in Alcester were flooded. The water broke through the river's defenses near Gunnings Bridge in Alcester. A lot of water flowed through the town, reaching about 1 foot deep in some areas like the bottom of High Street and Stratford Road.
