Arthur Cox (born April 7, 1934 – died April 9, 2021) was a British actor. He was known for playing many different characters. He appeared in TV shows and plays for a long time, from the mid-1950s until 2020.
Arthur Cox's Early Life and Acting Career
Arthur Cox was born in Banbridge, Northern Ireland, in April 1934. He first acted on stage in Belfast in the mid-1950s. This was in a play called A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller. His first time acting on stage in Dublin was in 1955. He played a character named Ordulto in a play called The Masquerade of Henry IV.
Arthur Cox on Television
Arthur Cox became more well-known on TV in the 1980s. He played Inspector Marriott in the drama Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime. He also starred in Yes Minister as George. George was the driver for a government minister named Jim Hacker. In 1978, he played Sir Jasper Addleton in the Wodehouse Playhouse episode 'The Smile that Wins'.
Arthur Cox passed away on April 9, 2021. This was just two days after his 87th birthday.
